7. Did a surprise visit to the Bank of Tanzania, halts payments of over 900bn/-  from BoT

PRESIDENT John Magufuli has ordered the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) to suspend payments amounting to 925.6 billion/- meant to settle outstanding government debts pending a fresh and thorough verification exercise.

The president also instructed the central bank to conduct a staff audit of its 1,391-strong workforce and terminate redundant employees.
